Contextual Reference

A contextual reference is similar to a form reference. A contextual reference, however, lacks the form code that a form reference has that specifies the form being referenced.

In a contextual reference a field is picked from an arbitrary master form. The field can be accessed only if the form it is on is in context. For example, in a report if the form with the contextual reference has a level with the contextual reference form above it then during report execution the instance of that form will be used to access the field. This is essentially a type of parameter passing. A definition can use a field that will be available at run time.
